Tips to help maintain a diet on vacation

Stick to a healthy diet is always easier when you have complete control over the kitchen. But on vacation does not mean that your diet goes out the window. Some changes can be made when preparing your food, there are several ways to maintain control number of calories while you're away from home.


Many of the restaurants Web sites provide list information. You may even find calories for some items. Take note of what to avoid and which ones should be on a diet and your preferences. For other restaurants, you may learn that they have the power of easy diet clear dishes from the menu. Remember information you can learn when to choose where to eat.

ï     Provide healthy snacks with you
Bring energy bars and other healthy snacks with you. If you are driving, you can pack the fruit and other elements of the low calories you help to avoid surrender to despair of temptation or pass through the machine.


ï     Lunch at the grocery store
It will be a full grocery selection of fruit, yogurt, Granola and other tapes that will not hinder your diet. Some salads where you can choose your parts and elements, and they have premade alternative "sandwich" such as blankets.

ï     When ordering salads
Salads can be a low-calorie alternative, but pay attention to items that can be added to the amount of calories and fat. Chicken breaded and fried (often called "crisp") has a lot of calories of chicken. Other elements include avoiding fried bean (common in Taco Salad), fatty dressings (blue cheese is a good example) and various types of cheese.

ï     Interest in healthy cooking methods
Choose grilled meats or seafood or vegetables instead of fried. Attention to the sauces: white sauce, or as a "creamy" is often much higher in fat that tomato or marinara sauce. Ask if you can replace the potato as a vegetable side dish.

ï     Cut parts
When eating out, here are several strategies for reducing the size of portions: try running your main meal rather than an entry for an aperitif. Consider the split entry with another person in your party, rather than eat it yourself. Plan to eat half of what is offered and bring the rest home in a doggie bag (or simply leave it on your plate).

ï     Choose drinks zero calories
Ask your diet, and sweet iced tea or a tall glass of ice water with lemon. The number of calories that will be a tall glass of sweet soda to another part of the meal. Often restaurants large glasses already containing more than one service, then meet, which can add up to hundreds of calories if you order a drink.

ï     Beware of alcohol
Here's another place where you can find works well. Locate the calories of your favorite cocktail before you leave on your trip. Know who drinks to avoid. Some can be 500 calories per Cup, but others are much lower in calories. Decide in advance what drinks you can avoid and stick to your plan.

ï     A picnic
Look for opportunities to walk for exercise. Choose a visit to foot instead of a bus. Get up early and explore the surroundings on foot. Or enjoy the hotel's pool or fitness room.

ï     Slight indulgence plan
After all, you are on holiday. Organizing meals for one or two if you don't take into account your diet and get what you want. I think it's a reward for sticking to the diet for the rest of the journey.
